Il Focus del no. 2023-1 della rivista di studi giuridici sull’orientamento sessuale e l’identità di genere GenIUS è dedicato a “Pandemia e questioni di genere”, ossia alle conseguenze della pandemia con le sue restrizioni sulle donne in particolare, con riferimenti a Italia e Messico.
Luciana Goisis: Pandemia e violenza di genere: «The essay retraces statistical data on gender violence in the pandemic era, data which signals a great increase of violence against women in those years. The essay questions about the criminological lecture that can be made with reference to similar statistical increase, analyzing also the recent penal legislation on the contrast to gender violence in order to detect its effectiveness in relation to the containment of this phenomenon.» (articolo in italiano)
Anna Lorenzetti: “Dalla parte di lei”. Per un’analisi di genere della pandemia e delle possibili risposte: «The paper proposes an analysis of the effects of Pandemic through a critical discussion of the responses. In illustrating the different condition between women and men, or better of women and men during the pandemic, this study focuses on the unequal condition of women and proposes a gender analysis approach.
The paper addresses the following questions: what is the framework emerging from the emergency? To what extent and in what ways the responses effectively protected the stronger fragilty of women? It is argued that Italian answer presents lights and shadows with regard to fight against discrimination. Considering the limited provision of the P.N.R.R. (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), the need to ensure full protection against gender discrimination emerges, with the necessity to find a solution more appropriate to the gender specificity of situation which could guarantee a full protection also for women.» (articolo in italiano)
Irene Spigno: Discriminación y violencia de género en México en los tiempos del coronavirus: la verdadera pandemia para las mujeres: «The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic not only generated a severe health crisis but also had a significant impact on human rights. Most governments adopted various measures, including confinement (the so-called “lockdown”). Although these measures were gender neutral, since they applied to the whole population without distinction (with some exceptions only concerning some professions), in reality, it was only an apparent neutrality since its effects were more harmful and discriminatory on women, especially in those contexts, such as the Latin American one, already characterized - even before the pandemic-, by deep gender inequality and violence. In this general framework, the present text analyzes how the measures adopted to deal with the health emergency in Mexico during the pandemic have had differentiated and profoundly discriminatory effects on women.» (articolo in spagnolo)
