This report is part of a survey based on data collected in 2019 from 35’000 people in the EU, the UK and North Macedonia. It namely focuses on violence and harassment with respect to some characteristics such as gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, citizenship and ethnicity. In the EU, physical violence was experienced by 9% of the respondents, 23% of the people from 16 to 29 years old, 22% of the members of ethnical minorities, 19% of the LGBTIQ people and 17% of the people with disabilities or health problems in the last 5 years before the survey. Most of the perpetrators were men. Violence against women mostly took place at home while violence against men mostly took place in public places. Only 30% of the victims reported their last incident of violence to the police. In the EU, harassment was experienced by 41 % of the respondents, 61 % of the people from 16 to 29 years old, 57 % for the LGBTIQ, 54 % of the people without the citizenship of the country they lived in and 50 % of the people with disabilities in the last 5 years before the survey. Most of the perpetrators were men. Harassment had the same prevalence for women and men, but it was of sexual nature for 18% of the female victims and for 6% of the male victims. Acts of harassment of sexual nature happened in public places for 57 % of the female victims and for 30% of the male victims. Only 11% of the victims reported their last incident of harassment to the police.
